Come and escape to Broxbourne’s Old Mill Retreat Café. We’re tucked away in an idyllic, out-of-the-way spot down by the river in Lee Valley Park, a little oasis of loveliness you’ll stumble across on a walk or hear about from friends who love it already.
Curl up in a comfy spot in our cosy café, or if you love the outdoors, whatever the weather, we’ve got plenty of seating outside, including a covered area to keep off the wind and the rain.
It’s a perfect stop-off if you’re walking the dog, on a bike ride, out with the family, or by yourself. You will always find a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble for our friendly staff!
You can simply relax and enjoy a coffee or savour a tasty bite to eat – while you soak up the calm atmosphere of the park’s gorgeous natural landscape.
We think you’ll love it so much at the Old Mill Retreat Café that, like our regulars, you’ll come back to us again and again. We’d love to be your new favourite place. There’s free WIFI too, so bring your laptop, order a coffee, and be productive.
Get off to the right start with our all-day breakfast, made just the way you like – perfect after an early walk or ideal for a lazy morning. There’s a range of freshly-prepared, hot and cold, savoury choices – and for sweet treats, we’re talking homemade cakes, scones, and more. All our food is prepared with locally-sourced, seasonal produce whenever possible: we just think it tastes better. Tempt yourself with our full menu right here.
Love a good cuppa? We only use Fairtrade Tea and insist on Rainforest Alliance Fresh Bean Coffee. Maybe you’d enjoy an organic hot chocolate, a fruit or herbal tea, or try one of Lynch’s all-natural hot drinks, imported from Canada, with flavours like hot apple, pear, and maple to try.
At the Old Mill Retreat Café, we pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service – as well as delicious food and drink. And our customers seem to appreciate what we do: we were voted No.1 Restaurant in Broxbourne on TripAdvisor.
From the Old Mill Retreat Café, you can easily make your way to lovely walks on the towpaths by the river and meadows, head off on brilliant bike rides, or find the perfect spot on the bank for an afternoon’s fishing. Feeling more adventurous, you can also hire out boats and bikes nearby.
Close at hand, why not explore the Old Mill itself? It’s just a short walk from our café. This historic site, listed in the Domesday Book in 1086, has changed hands and roles many times over the centuries. After a catastrophic fire in 1949, there’s little more than the 16th-century floor in existence today but it gives us an interesting link to local history and a feeling of the continuity of life here.
We’re open 7 days a week all year round, apart from Christmas Day, and there’s a warm welcome for everyone at our Old Mill Retreat Café.
